Garlic is still one of nature’s best medicines and is highly useful in treating a number of ailments such as stomach upsets and more serious conditions like impotence. New studies have revealed more benefits of eating garlic including better heart condition and even cancer prevention.

What Makes Garlic So Powerful?

Garlic has the following two potent compounds:

  • A protein based enzyme known as Allinase
  • A sulfur rich amino acid called Alliin

Am sure most of you already know that a garlic clove has no odor. The smell is only evident when you slice or crush it and this happens when the two compounds come together to create a volatile compound known as Allicin. The formed compound only lasts for a few hours and it turns garlic into a powerful antibiotic equivalent to 1/50th of penicillin strength. This compound also has antifungal and antiviral properties.

Does Garlic Work Better than Antibiotics?

Garlic does not have any adverse side effects; it’s a natural product devoid of any chemicals.

  • One study revealed that garlic eliminates Helicobacter Pylori, a bacterium that lives in the digestive tract and causes gastric ulcers or cancer. After the findings, garlic is now used to treat over 20 percent of H. Pylori cases.
  • Garlic was also found to improve the survival rate of those suffering from the fatal infection sepsis by improving their immunity levels.
  • Garlic does not lead to the production of resistant bacteria like antibiotics.

How to Take Advantage of Garlic’s Antibiotic Properties

You should take at least three to four cloves of raw garlic every day. Allicin, the powerful compound of garlic is eliminated after cooking so you should only ingest in raw form. Also, don’t take garlic pills.
