Raw and unprocessed honey is known for its amazing health benefits. However, scientists have found a type of honey that eliminates different types of bacteria, even the worst bacteria known to man.

The findings of this research were published in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. The findings come at a great time especially when bacteria and superbugs are becoming resistant to antibiotics.

The type of honey that we are talking about is manuka honey that is mainly produced in New Zealand. This type of honey was almost sold out after the results of the study were released leading to shortages and unscrupulous businessmen selling fake products. The real manuka producers from New Zealand asked for a trademark protection just like the French champagne and Scottish whiskey.

This type of honey is created by regular bees that get nectar from the New Zealand manuka bush, trees that are only found in New Zealand and some parts of Australia. Manuka honey killed different pathogen and bacteria that it was tested on. The honey can be applied on the skin, cuts and insect bites or taken by mouth.

The good thing about manuka honey is that it prevents the superbugs from building immunity and hence solving the problems of today’s antibiotics.
