Onion powder is made from dehydrated and ground onions. This powder is widely used as seasoning and you can sprinkle it onto just about anything you want to add a bit of taste. Apart from improving the taste of so many dishes, onion powder is also used for its antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

If you like to fill your kitchen with all sorts of healthy stuff that you made, you will find the following recipe irresistible:

Start by peeling the onions. You can use white, red or yellow onions or you can combine them for a unique creation.

Use a sharp knife to make thin onion rings for easier drying.

Use a dehydrator if you have one to dry the onions. No need to panic if you don’t own one just put the onions in the oven at 1500F and make sure that they are wrapped in a baking sheet with aluminum foil.  Bake for three to four hours and crush them with your fingers once they are done.

Pulverize

Allow the onions to cool and then have them pulverized. For this process, you will need a coffee grinder or food processor. If you don’t have any of the two, use a mortar and pestle. Now you have your onion powder.
