If you suffer from arthritis, then there are some foods and drinks that you must stop taking or you’ll end up worsening your condition. Too much inflammation can lead to serious health conditions such as cancer and heart ailments.

The reality is, the body depends on some bit of inflammation to fight certain infections and injuries. But when inflammations becomes too much, your body's defense system will start attacking healthy cells leading to their destruction. You should control inflammation in your body by staying away from the following foods and drinks:

Drinking too much of alcoholic beverages can inflame your liver, larynx and esophagus and cause irritation. Too much inflammation from alcohol can cause the growth of cancer cells. Substitute alcohol with green tea or water, these are anti-inflammatory beverages.

Dairy Products

If you are one of those people who can’t digest milk, then stay away from it as it can trigger inflammation. This can lead to stomach complications, skin rashes and breathing difficulties. Avoid any type of dairy product including cheese and butter. If you are not allergic to milk, you should pick kefir or yogurt as they are easier to digest and have good bacteria too.

Excessive sugar intake can cause a lot of ailments including obesity, acne and type 2 diabetes. Skip any drink that has maltose, corn syrup and sucrose as these are just alternative names for sugar. Go for natural sweeteners such as black strap molasses or honey.

Trans Fats

These can raise your bad cholesterol levels and create room for inflammation, obesity and resistance to insulin. Avoid baked goods, fast foods and dried fried foods that are sold commercially. Always make sure that your grocery products don’t have trans fats.

Vegetable Cooking Oil

This type of cooking oil doesn’t have omega 3 but omega 6 fatty acids. Continued cooking using this type of oil can cause cancer and heart ailments. For this reason, you should stay away from safflower, grape seed and sunflower oils. Use extra virgin olive oil or macadamia oil to get the right balance of omega 3 and 6 in your diet.

This does not mean that you should stay away from the listed products completely; you can use them in moderation.
